RESCUE I
Bek Chan
Surrounded by swaying palm trees and lush green rice fields, Rescue I was established in 2003,
with the construction of
16 small homes with thatch roofs where families living with HIV/AIDS could come to be cared for.
Seeing the need for
additional housing for the orphaned children left behind when their parents passed away, ten
homes were built on the
property. The homes would have room for 10 boys or 10 girls, including a house Mom. As those
homes filled up, another
block of ten homes were added for more orphan and at risk children. Two Granny homes were also
built shortly after for
elderly 'orphaned' women.
Today, in addition to all the homes, if
you came for a visit to Rescue I you would find the place bustling with its own
elementary and high school, a learning centre, 2 baby houses, a youth centre, gardens, fish
ponds, staff housing and
lots of laughter and love.
